Sonia’s full-length debut collection of poetry, Infidelities, was longlisted for the 2018 OCM Bocas Prize in Caribbean Literature:
Considered the leading literary award for Caribbean writers, Sonia’s book was longlisted for the 2018 OCM Bocas Prize in Caribbean Literature in the category of poetry along with Kamau Brathwaite’s Leviticus and Shara McCallum’s Madwoman. The shortlist will be announced in early April before revealing the overall winner at the 2018 NGC Bocas Literary Festival in Port of Spain, Trinidad, 25 – 29 April.
In shortlisting these three books, the judges noted, “we were thinking of the representation of the materiality of the book itself and book art traditions in the Caribbean as part of the books’ meaning, as well as the fusion of local themes with international experimental approaches to form and voice, and the voices for our point in history going forward.”
