For 24 hours only, Sonia presented her artist book “A True & Exact History” along with an artist talk where the project first began: the Fresh Milk art platform in Barbados.
On April 30, visitors came to view the work and hear her in conversation with Ayesha Gibson-Gill, Cultural Officer for Literary Arts at the National Cultural Foundation, and Tara Inniss, Lecturer in the Department of history and Philosophy at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. Audience members contributed to the rich conversation which meditated on the writing process, the politics of Caribbean space, and the enduring legacies of historical texts.
Many donated their time and energy to making this installation happen. Thank you, Fresh Milk volunteers! Many thanks also to Fresh Milk, Dondré Trotman, and Manfred Ginter for their photographs included here.
